Goodinine!!
It’s been a while since the last Life Update (June, apparently!), so I figured I’m a bit overdue for another one!
First of all, Unity’s Edge and my new story are starting to be posted on Royal Road! Please check them out!
I will be posting chapters of Unity’s Edge here on this blog, as well as on RR, but the new story “Glistless: The Dark Elf” will be exclusive to that site! I still plan to post chapters of my series in pairs, so please read wherever you feel is more accessible.
In addition to that, there will now be Deep Dives on this site for both stories – and eventually New World, once I get around to writing it more. I’ve already got seventeen pages of notes for just Glistless, and I’m writing more.
Secondly, I have something to release on my ko-fi (also, I got the button). I’ve already got a bunch of short side stories planned for all three stories, especially for the missing links in Unity’s Edge. I’m also heavily considering making Interlude-like chapters part of the Side Stories… y’know, backstories of major characters.
I might make one or two more major backstory moments in an Interlude chapter… but stuff is always going down behind the scenes, so it may be useful to have the extra viewpoint!
I also plan to start doing audio readings of my stories, as well as releases of concept artwork, covers for Royal Road, and some other stuff (including some possible maps designed by printinkling.com/shop if I can secure some drafts and money). With the amount of people helping me through the stuff in my life now, I’ve been able to do some things I enjoy again, like watching anime alone, reading manga and fictions, and art creation!
…which brings me to the actual Life Update.
So, as I may have mentioned in some of my recent posts, the cold season has hit my state, and with it, the loss of good sunlight. I’ve been off my mood stabilizers for about three months now (partially because I missed my last appointment), and once the snow fell, I started feeling it hard.
Last year about this time, I still felt depression hit, but last month was much more like it has been in the past.
That is, everything felt like it was crashing down around me.
I had a pretty bad breakdown at work one week, and only with the help of my friends and family was I able to rebound into a more positive state of mind. My workmates also did their best to accommodate me and helped me through my breakdown (since some of them have been around long enough to notice it).
I’ve tried to keep this blog a little toned down from personal stuff this year (only two real Life Updates), since I know not everyone wants to hear about the problems people suffer through regularly.
But I use this blog as an outlet more than anything. For me to motivate myself to write, for me to share my opinions with people willing to listen, and for pride, to a degree. I won’t lie; I do get a little joy seeing that someone (usually three regulars) view my posts. Even if no one leaves any comments, and even if the post doesn’t get a like, I see that someone took at least a brief second of their life to click into the post.
What I’m trying to say is, I’ve been in low places before, and seeing all the people who want me to stick around has helped me stay (relatively) out of that place. Being able to write and draw again has also helped immensely, and because I know people are looking, I’m able to keep it up.
Thanks to everyone who’s stuck with me this far. Here’s to a couple more decades on this planet and on this site (assuming AI doesn’t destroy it)!
Please keep yourselves happy!
