Story Update: Hell/Dolls release

Good evening, all!

For those of you that follow me, you may have noticed two posts released earlier today; the Prelude and first chapter of Hell/Dolls is now available to read…

On Wattpad and here.

So, funny story.  I didn’t remember that FictionPress has very strict rules about what can be posted, so to post Hell/Dolls on the site, I need to revise some things…

Granted, nothing in the first few chapters breaks the rules, but the overall story is supposed to be a more mature fiction (FictionPress specifically has the MA rating for flavor, it is not an allowed story rating), so before I release anything there, I’ll triple-check and edit down some of the more “adult” elements.

If you’re interested in reading the mature version of the story now, it is available (once again) on Wattpad, on this site, and soon to be on Archives Of Our Own (once I get the OK for an account).

Just a quick update for y’all, hope you enjoy it!

Update Diary: Hell/Dolls (June 18th, 2025)

I AM LATE BUT I AM HERE~!

I apologize for the delay getting to the story update, but I’ve been finalizing(ish) the prelude and first chapter of the story for release, which should be available sometime this month or next. I’m very excited that we’re so close to release!

In other news, here’s the current status of the series:

Current Chapter: 10 (Status and Poison)

Pages (not including title and ToC): 138

Current Word Count (same): 62,730

I think that I’m nearing the middle of this part of the story, if I’m being honest. I was originally envisioning the first “book” to have 30 or so chapters, including asides. With the way things are playing out writing-wise, I may end up only releasing 25 chapters, if that.

I also wanted to clarify something I may have forgotten to mention in the last update; I had to rearrange some of the paragraphs as I reviewed the story to fit the… “pacing” of the speech and thoughts. I’m not a professional, and I’ll never (truly) claim to be until I release a physical book or something. I rewrite my chapters regularly and I read and listen to my story whenever I can to catch hiccups and mistakes. But I am not perfect, and I have learned to accept that.

The story’s endgame has not changed, just some wording and clarifications fixed or added. Because I haven’t really said anything about the story, I realize it is a completely mystery to anyone reading these updates. But please believe me, I am putting all my effort into making this story enjoyable to some degree.

As I said previously (I think in the March update), I am using Autocrit to help me close the gaps. I want to be very clear about this, however: Autocrit is a support tool for me. I use it to catch repetitive mistakes and unresolved plot threads, but I do not generate any of the text that will be released. I do not like the idea of writing a story completely with AI, and I greatly enjoy creating my own worlds from scratch and mind. I take any suggestions from Autocrit with a grain of salt, but I do trust that the mistakes it catches can help me improve.

Sorry, a lot of infodumping at the last minute, but I felt I should be very clear about everything regarding the story – why I’ve been delayed, what I’m using and why, and my level of dedication to this project. As I said, I’m extremely excited to share this.

Keeping in touch,

-M. Isif

Returning Once More

Holy moly, it’s been a while.

I think the last time I updated this thing was (checks watch) 2017!  Wow, seven years really flies by when you’re having fun.

So, to be brief, I’d like to tell you what’s been going on (bear with me, there’s quite a bit):

For starters, I’ve got a full-time job that I love.  Working with both my coworkers and vendors is an enjoyable experience, and the work itself is something that my unfocused brain can easily grasp, organize, and process.  I’ve even written some documents outlining my job’s ins and outs for the company’s position (not officially, but my superiors are actually sharing it around to help new people).

I’ve also been writing A LOT.  In addition to my To Aru universe fanfiction and that old Albel Academy story (both of which I haven’t updated recently), I have a Touhou universe fanfiction that is up to seven chapters, as well as two original stories that I have been excitedly working on for the past year.  The main one I’ve been focused on is at seven chapters as well, though I plan to release the chapters over a few weeks once it’s done.

In addition to writing stories, I have been thoroughly revamping some of my tabletop games; two in particular I have grown quite attached to, in part because they are somewhat related to the stories.  I’ve gotten most of the mechanics figured out, but there’s still a lot of work to do before they are playable in any capacity.  With how much I’ve been working on these, I’m a little surprised I haven’t burned out yet (knock on wood).

Other than those endeavors, I’ve been slowly catching up on my backlog of anime and manga, though my game backlog is still pretty much untouched.  I was finally able to play Payday 2 with a friend, though, so I see that as a major plus!

I still plan on posting reviews here – both the quick season posts and the in-depth reviews, especially the Kizumonogatari one I promised all of those years ago.  By the way, can you believe we’ve gotten Off Season and Monster Season in anime format?!

To summarize my intentions going forward, I think I’d like to start updating this blog again at a gentle pace, maybe like two to four posts a month.  Now that I have a pretty set schedule for my work, friends, family, and hobbies, I think I can be more consistent in updating this.  I’m probably going to do a review post (probably on Kaiju No 8 or Kizu) and a progress post on the favorite story I’m working on, where I’ll follow in the footsteps of the brilliant writer L.G. Estrella and give you more detailed info on it, such as word count, chapters, and maybe even sneak peeks.

Because I now pay for all of my streaming services, I will be getting most of my anime review material from Crunchyroll or HiDive releases, but there is always a new series dropping on other services, so I’ll try to stay diligent.  I’m also watching series on a regular basis again, so I may be able to give more variety than just SoL and Yuri.

I’m excited to come back here, so hopefully you’ll be happy to join me on this restarted journey!

Tadaima,

Apologies. I know I haven’t been very active lately, but there’s been a lot of crap piling up in my life – most of which, I’ve managed to clear out. In case you aren’t in my connectwork, here’s what’s been going on:

-Dropped out of college completely. There’s very little chance I’ll go back at this point, but I do appear on campus every now and then.

-Got a job at Walgreens – currently working around 30 hours per week and getting 10.25 per hour. I am the Photo Specialist.

-Now I am on Riddlin as well as Lexipro, and also taking D3 tablets every day. Also visit a therapist once a month.

-Moved out of my mother’s house, due to my stepfather, stress, and other things. I moved in with two of my friends, and it’s been going fairly well.

-Gained and (kind of) lost a girlfriend. Enjoyed her presence while it lasted, still miss her.

-Apparently Donald Trump is running for president. So, yeah, that’s a thing.

Anyway, enough about me. I’ll try to post more reviews and other stuff as often as I can, because apparently keeping a schedule is too hard for me. But hopefully, there will be a solid one soon.

Stay beautiful.
